As we geared up for one of the most anticipated music events of the year, Soundstorm, we wanted to take a moment to share what goes on behind the scenes just 24 hours before the doors opened. It’s all about teamwork.
In the video below, Mark gives us a candid look into the whirlwind of activity, last-minute adjustments, and teamwork that made an event of this scale possible.
Mark has held the role of Senior Health & Safety Director at Soundstorm since we got involved with MDLBEAST back in 2021.

A Day Full of Challenges and Adaptations
The day before any event is always intense, and Soundstorm this year was no exception.
Planning for Soundstorm is ongoing, year to year. The event benefits greatly from having its Safety people involved consistently.
Still, recent developments like Saudi Arabia’s announcement of hosting the 2034 FIFA World Cup led to some significant changes. The team had to pivot quickly, updating timelines and implementing new elements to reflect the celebration.
This ability to adapt is important. It highlights one of the cornerstones of event management: flexibility. This is particularly important when working in the Middle East.
Whether it’s updating show day rosters or coordinating new operational procedures, the team pulled together to ensure everything was on track.
Preparing for Success
Among the day’s highlights were software training sessions for the team and site walkthroughs with Civil Defense. We did final safety checks with our engineering partners too.
These steps ensure that our operations are not only efficient but also meet the highest safety standards. It’s a collective effort that highlights true teamwork. As part of it, each person contributes to the intricate tapestry of Soundstorm’s execution.
We also welcomed visitors from other events and potential clients. We got to showcase the collaborative spirit that fuels the events industry.
Moments like these remind us how much of our success is rooted in shared knowledge and partnerships. They also bring home how important designing safety into the event from early on benefits for delivery.
Team Spirit in Full Display
One of the most heartwarming moments of the day was gathering for a team photo.
With nearly 50 professionals captured on the steps of Event Control, the picture symbolises the strength, expertise, and camaraderie of the team.
As Mark mentions in the video, the calibre of professionals on this team is unmatched. It’s a privilege to work alongside such talented individuals time and time again.
There was also time for lighter moments behind the scenes too.
From birthday celebrations to swapping hoodies and beanies, these moments of connection keep spirits high amid the fast-paced nature of event prep.
This is a group of colleagues first, but it’s bound together by a distinct thread of friendship.

Looking Ahead
The energy on site is palpable as we count down the hours to opening.
There’s a buzz of excitement knowing that all the hard work will soon culminate in thousands of smiling faces enjoying the magic of Soundstorm.
For many of us, that’s the most rewarding part – seeing the joy we’ve helped create.
So much work goes on behind the scenes to reach this point.
We hope this glimpse into “Show Day Minus One” offers a little more insight into the teamwork, dedication, and adaptability it takes to bring an event of this scale to life.
