We funded this ‘Making Decision in Event Control in a Crisis’ course, which was held in our Global HQ in Dublin, Ireland, in April 2024.
As an element of our continuing efforts to support the Irish event industry in particular, we worked with Joe Pearson from A2Z Resilience in the UK to deliver this event control course publicly for the first time in Ireland.
While all our team members don’t specialise in working in Event Control Rooms, many of us do. Others aspire to move into those Tactical / Silver roles too, so this course was warranted.
Our own in-house team as well as several freelance members of our team had previously undertaken the training with Joe and we felt it would be a good one to fund and offer to people in the industry.
While it wasn’t locked down exclusively for people based in Ireland, they did represent the largest cohort in attendance, for sure. That said, we had attendees from Holland, Northern Ireland, Scotland and beyond.
Popularity
Over 170 people signed up to attend.
We added a 2nd day due to the demand for the course and we could readily have filled a 3rd and possibly a 4th day too.
Our intention is to schedule this event control course and other learning opportunities like this one in the first quarter of each year moving forward. It’s a busy time for us but relative to other times of the year it’s less busy.
A key part of our Vision as a company is to impact events around the world on which we will never work directly. One of our main ways of achieving that is by providing learning and training opportunities like this one.
We know this isn’ typical of a company like ours. Our approach has always been our own and we are fine with that. It works for us and those with whom we engage.
Learning is a huge part of what we do in here and we regularly run courses, both publicly and in-house for clients. Find out more about learning with us here.
We regularly advise clients on what training and education their team members might benefit from.
Training like this is important for our own team members. We want to test ourselves. We want to keep sharp.
Martin in here always says ‘You’re only as good as your last event’. Keeping up with best-practice and honing our skills is critical.
