Our Strategic Director, Mark Breen, was recently a guest on the Breakfast Business radio show on Newstalk.

Newstalk is a national radio show in Ireland, based in Dublin, not too far from our Headquarters.

Mark spoke to the host, Joe Lynam, about what we do here in Safe Events Global. They also discussed what it’s like working in an emerging and developing events market like the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.

Joe’s introduction of Mark referenced his time as a doorman in his home town over 25 years ago as well as our current work.

‘Mark Breen started off as a bouncer in Ballinasloe but now provides safety and events management at giant festivals mostly in Saudi Arabia. He’s in the vanguard of companies taking advantage of the rapid pace of societal change in the Middle East.’

It’s a discussion point that’s come time and time again when we’ve looked back at our journey to where we are today.

At the same time Mark worked as a doorman, he was working in the local swimming pool as a lifeguard too.

He went on to train lifeguards while studying in the University of Limerick. Again, at the same time, he was working in safety and security in both the university and Limerick city.

His time spent keeping people safe in swimming pools and nightclubs set him on the road to establishing what is now Safe Events Global along with Martin.

There’s a lot more to that story, but that’s for another time.

It was a relatively short chat, running less than 10 minutes.

The show itself is only 30 minutes long.
