The Challenge
In the run-up to the 2024 World Wallball Championships, we were engaged to review the proposed venue design and assess a safe exiting capacity for the temporary arrangements planned.
With a tight timeline before the tournament, our work needed to be both fast and precise.

The Solution
We collaborated closely with David and his team in the GAA, reviewing the proposed layout in detail to ensure every element was fully understood before determining a safe exiting capacity.
Our familiarity with the UL Sports Arena – having supported major productions there previously, including Riverdance – was an advantage in quickly interpreting the plans. Mark in here is also an ex-student of UL.
This local knowledge, combined with our methodical approach, enabled us to identify how seating layouts, audience areas, and circulation routes would impact crowd flow and exiting arrangements.
By engaging directly with the client throughout, we were able to provide accurate, practical advice under tight time constraints – giving the organisers confidence in their venue’s capacity and compliance.

The Result
Over 1,200 spectators attended daily across six days of competition, enjoying world-class handball in one of Ireland’s premier sporting venues.
The successful delivery of the 2024 World Wallball Championships further strengthened both the UL Sports Arena’s international reputation and the GAA’s standing as a capable host of global tournaments
Our work ensured the event could proceed with a clear understanding of safe capacity, supporting the client in delivering a competition that was both high-profile and safely managed.
By providing clarity under pressure, we enabled the organisers to focus on the sporting spectacle, confident that safety was embedded into every aspect of the venue plan.

Our Part
Our role was to give the organisers clarity and confidence around the safe capacity of their venue under tight timelines.
By combining our technical expertise with familiarity of the UL Sports Arena, we were able to provide a clear and actionable Exiting Capacity Assessment that supported decision-making and reassured stakeholders.
