Since 2017, Safe Events Global has proudly partnered with Dublin Zoo to bring the wonder of Wild Lights to life. A collaboration that has illuminated the zoo grounds and captured the imagination of visitors young and old.

Where it all began

First launched in 2017, Wild Lights began as a bold idea: to transform Dublin Zoo into a glowing night-time experience filled with artistry, colour, and storytelling. It quickly became one of Dublin’s most popular winter attractions. The event has since become a cherished annual tradition. The event usually runs from early November through to late January and attracts families, friends, and tourists eager to see the zoo in a whole new light.

Wild Lights over the years

Each year, Wild Lights unveils an undeniably unique theme that guides the design of over a thousand hand-crafted silk lanterns. These stunning designs combine light, sound, and nature to illustrate a captivating story. Past themes have included:

  • 2021 – Around the World: a global adventure that featured giant lanterns of famous landmarks like the Eiffel Tower.
  • 2022 – The Magic of Life:  showcase highlighting the importance of biodiversity with fascinating plant and animal communities and ecosystems
  • 2023 – The Enchanted Zoo: a magical journey through lands of fairies, mythical creatures, and nocturnal wildlife.
  • 2024 – A Journey Through Time: an exploration of Earth’s history, from the age of dinosaurs to the rise of human civilisation.

This year’s event

This November, Wild Lights returns with another dazzling theme — The Wild Kaleidoscope. This year’s experience celebrates the power of colour in the wild, exploring how animals use colour for survival, communication, attraction, and defence.

Visitors can expect 13 kaleidoscopic zones filled with vibrant displays, from elegant flamingos and shimmering peacocks, to playful penguins and enchanting red pandas. The highlights include the largest lantern ever featured at Wild Lights, and one of the biggest in Europe!

Lights and more

Beyond the visual spectacle, Safe Events Global is proud to support two accessibility-focused projects to grow this event. We were honoured to sponsor the goody bags for the Irish Sign Language (ISL) launch event, held in collaboration with Chime, Ireland’s national charity for Deaf and Hard of Hearing people.

Additionally, we are working on the design of a new sensory space where we aim to offer a calm and inclusive environment for visitors who may need a quieter moment during their visit. This new space will go live for the 2026 event.
