Mark
our STRATEGIC DIRECTOR
Mark is Strategic Director of Safe Events Global and is based in Dublin, Ireland.
He is a vastly experienced senior event professional, having held positions of responsibility on large-scale, public, mass-gathering events in multiple countries.
With over 24 years experience in events, he has been working on events internationally in the Middle East since 2017.
Mark has led on all aspects of Health & Safety on all MDLBEAST events, as their Senior Health & Safety Director, since 2021 as well as occupying a Silver / Tactical Commander role in Event Control on a wide range of shows.
He has a particular interest in learning & education in the safety space for events.

Areas of Focus
Mark is consistently looking to the future of Safe Events Global in his role as Strategic Director. He is occupied with routes to new markets, growth strategies, client and partnership development as well as a wide range of ongoing and developing organisational initiatives.
He leads on service delivery on many of our largest key accounts, including MDLBEAST and a variety of consultancy projects. While he operates in a Strategic role for us here, he does similar as well as operating Tactically in Event Control Rooms on some of the largest events on which we work.
Mark also has a keen interest in learning and education within the event industry. He continues to develop and deliver a wide range of learning and education projects, including everything from 5-day email courses through to University-accredited Professional Diplomas that have been delivered to hundreds of event professionals around the world.

- Applied Crowd Science by Prof. Dr. G Keith Still – featuring the LaD Classification for Crowd Disasters by Mark Breen. This is a piece of work Mark developed while studying on the MSc in Crowd Science at Manchester Metropolitan University.
- ‘Safely Does It’ column in IE Magazine – Mark contributed a regular column for this publication from the International Festival and Events Association for 2 years.
Selected Speaking Engagements
- IOSH Panel at the Health and Safety Event – Mark contributed to a panel session on looking at the impact of weather on live events. It was an element of the activity curated by IOSH at the event.
- Event Safety Alliance Canada Conference – session delivered by Mark entitled ‘Challenging Opportunities: Safety Planning in a Regulatory Vacuum’. It was an exploration of the opportunities and challenges inherent in planning and delivering large-scale, festival events in a jurisdiction lacking in regulatory frameworks and local guidance.
