THE CHALLENGE
Working with our client and partners to safely realise Aravia, a semi-permanent venue in Qatar, which would play host to spellbinding post-match performances as part of the programming around the FIFA World Cup.
This was MDLBEAST’s first major music festival outside the Kingdom.
The Solution
We mobilised very quickly to support this high-profile project, supplying a very strong mix of international and regional team members.
We figured out many elements of this one on the ground with our key partners
The timeline on the Aravia project was extremely challenging, not just for us, but for the client and all our partners. Permissions and confirmations were secured later than we’d all have liked. Our team got on the ground quickly and supported the build, delivery and break for this one, once the green light was received,
The initial location for the venue was altered after build had begun, so we all had to move to the new location, which put further pressure on the timeline for the build. Our Event Safety team as well as all our partners’ teams attacked the challenges on this one with a singular focus. It was impressive.
Everything was built for Aravia, tested, programmed and delivered on time and the end result was a 28-day run of super performances, catering to patrons from ALL around the world attending the World Cup matches as well as local attendees.
The Result
Over 60,000 people joined us at Aravia across the 28 nights to enjoy one of the most impressive World Cup entertainment venues.
That it was temporary, makes it all the more impressive.
Across 28 nights of programming at Aravia, attendees were treated to performances by 56 international artists, including Steve Aoki, David Guetta, Calvin Harris and many more on the custom 17-metre long stage, while enjoying a wide array of on-site catering and bar options.
There were elements of both permanent and temporary in the approach to this one given the length of the run, which patrons won’t even have realised, such was the creativity employed in designing the site.
Over 60,000 people participated in this event, where they experienced a projection-mapping spectacle rarely seen on shows of this scale. The whole experience was an aural and visual feast, appreciated by locals and international visitors alike.
This was a special one, for sure.
